Sean Smith, representing Mearns Castle Golf Academy, was the 7-9 year age group winner of the Junior Flag Challenge.

The competition was launched this summer when four golfing facilities came together and events were held at Broadlees Golf, Playsport Golf in East Kilbride, Mearns Castle Golf Academy, and Paisley Golf Club. The tour was open to boys and girls aged 7-12 who do not have a CONGU handicap and just under 50 boys and girls took part.

Each player had 36 shots and once they hit all their shots they placed a flag in the ground. The winner was the player who got furthest round the course.

There were three categories: 7-9 years, 10-12 years and a girls category. Each player was awarded points for each event they played. The children’s experience was enhanced by the availability of revolutionary new golf clubs designed especially for them by sponsors Golphinforkids.
