Golfers’ hopes of buyer for crisis-hit Kames Club

Kames – including the par-71 Mouse Valley championship golf course – plunged into administration following director James Forrest’s decision to ‘pull the plug’ back in February.

But a consortium of members – including club secretary Jim Snowball – believe they’ve found a saviour in the form of Scottish businessman Graeme McClay.

Jim said: “We expect Graeme’s offer to be submitted this week or early next week.

“And we’re 99.999 per cent confident that it will be accepted.”

The sale of Kames Country Club – which opened back in 1993 – is being carried out by global property advisers Colliers International on the instruction of joint administrators Mark Ranson and Alison Anderson of Armstrong Watson.

Mark said: “We have been working closely with the active members committee to ensure a continuation of golf pending the sale. With several parties showing early interest we hope to conclude a sale in the next couple of months.”
