’Gow boss Robert Irving quits

LESMAHAGOW Juniors manager Robert Irving resigned on Sunday night, bringing an end to his five-year reign at Craighead Park.

Irving (48) said he was happy to quit after ’Gow’s 5-1 home Central Division 1 hammering by Wishaw.

His assistant manager Gerry Bonham has been placed in caretaker charge.

Irving said: “Things came to a head on Saturday and I couldn’t see a way forward for the club.

“It’s time for a new voice in the dressing room and hopefully the players will respond.

“There is a good squad of 17 players at Lesmahagow but they just weren’t responding to me.”
