He’s deaf ref!

A DEAF footballer who plays for Kilsyth Rangers was booked in the club’s recent Scottish Cup replay because he did not stop playing when the referee blew his whistle for offside.

To make matters worse, Philip John Dolan (24), known as PJ, later picked up a second booking in the third round tie away to Armadale Thistle on Hogmanay and was sent off.

The issue arose when PJ, who usually plays in midfield, came on as a substitute for Joe Barclay in the 68th minute and was deployed up front.

The highly contentious booking came in the 82nd minute when the 24-year-old latched onto a through ball, but was flagged offside.

Having been ahead of the linesman, PJ had no way of knowing he was offside, and went on to round the Armadale keeper and slot the ball home.
