Hutchesons' win trophy

SPORTING history was made at Murrayfield on Saturday when Hutchesons' became the first Glasgow side to win the Brewin Dolphin Scottish schools cup at under-15 level.

The southside squad broke Edinburgh schools' dominance of junior rugby by beating Stewart's Melville college 10-8 in the final.

Hutchie's scrum half Robbie Blackwood, who was named man of the match scored a critical try in the first half, converted by George Swankie, who also kicked a successful penalty.

Following the victory in front of nearly 6,000 spectators, rector Dr Ken Greig offered congratulations "to the squad, the coaching staff, and to pupils and staff for their support".

Head coach Stuart Lang said the final was "a wonderful experience for all the boys (who) worked so hard to get here".
