ICG medals for Carluke girls Michelle Boyle and Deborah McLeod

JUDO ace Michelle Boyle and footballer Deborah McLeod, both of Carluke, each won a medal for hosts Team Lanarkshire at last week’s International Children’s Games.

Michelle (15), of Middlehope Farm, clinched girls’ over-70kg judo gold at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell, while 14-year-old Deborah helped the girls’ football team to silver at Hamilton Palace Sports Grounds.

Michelle’s dad Jamie said: “She was over the moon to get that gold. Me, my wife Denise and Michelle’s two sets of grandparents watched her win two bouts against Greek opponents and we were so very proud.

“I couldn’t talk for about a minute after it.”
