Impressive display from Cumbernauld ladies

LAST weekend saw a very impressive display from Cumbernauld Indoor Bowling Club’s ladies’ team when they travelled to the Allander Centre to compete in the Inter Club League against the local team.

Coming after two consecutive defeats it would not have been amiss to think that confidence would have been a little low.

Not so, as right from the start they swept into the lead and never relinquished it, with all four teams undefeated and at the same time amassing one of their highest overall scores, winning by 105 points to 57 points. A very good team performance.

Cumbernauld skips: Joyce Miller drew 18–18; Linda Fleming won 27–17; Margaret Wightman won 31–11; Anne Cairnie won 29–11.

There was no senior gents league match this weekend as the Scottish National Senior Pairs competition was taking place at the Coatbridge Stadium. The Cumbernauld pairing of Val Harkins and Ian Ferguson (skip) were competing and had a very successful day defeating Cowal
IBC 18-12 in their final qualifying match to progress to the semi-finals to be held on March 2, 2013 at Glasgow IBC.

With the senior gents rinks of Bob Christie, Frank Dow, Jim McConnachie and Tommy Turnbull already through to the second round finals next Sunday, November 18,
the Seniors are doing the club proud.

Well done everyone and good luck in your next games.
