International success for Tryst Lions

TRYST Lions Wrestling Club recently visited Belgium for the 34th Annual KWIK International in the small town of Kruibeke, near Antwerp.

Ross Connelly, Taylor McCann, Lee McKeown and Lewis Waddell, with Steven McKeown as coach, competed and brought back success for the Lions.

Taylor won four matches to claim a prestigious gold at 44kg; Ross won three bouts to achieve silver at 38kg while Lewis also earned silver at 76kg. Additionally, Lee acquired fourth in a difficult 60kg section. Upon returning home, coach David Connelly said: “The lads did well against tough opposition. The results we achieved shows that putting a lot of effort into training will pay off on the big stage.
