it’s world class

IN an incredible achievement for a rural club, members of South Lanarkshire Wheelchair Curling Club (SLWCC) have hosted their first international curling tournament.

Hamilton Ice Rink was the venue for a competition featuring three teams from the host club, two Scotland teams, international sides from Sweden, Canada, the Czech Republic and Germany, plus German club side Mainhattan.

After a fantastic two days of competition, World and Paralympic champions Canada – skipped by Jim Armstrong – defeated Scotland 8-6 in a hotly contested final. Third place went to Sweden, with the Czech Republic fourth.
