Jags aim to roar back into race for the SPL

Although alarm bells are not quite ringing yet, assistant manager Simon Donnelly knows that his side need to get back to winning ways against Falkirk on Saturday.

Follow last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to bottom of the table Dumbarton, Donnelly said: “It just goes to show that there are no easy games in this league.

“Although it was so disappointing to lose, we played well up to the point Dumbarton scored their second goal. After this the wind seemed to go out of our sails.”

What concerned him was that the players had the chances but just couldn’t make them count when it mattered.

This is something Donnelly and manager Jackie McNamara said they have been working on in training this week.

Donnelly added: “We are back at home on Saturday and have good form there so are hoping to bounce back and take the three points.

“We really want to end the run of bad results we have had over the last four games.

“Against Livingston we looked like we were going to win but they came back to level in the dying minutes of the game.

“We can’t let this happen and need to be focused for the full 90 minutes.”

With a full squad this week to choose from going into Saturday’s game, confidence is high of securing the three points, but it is looking increasingly like a three horse race as the league enters the second half of the season.

Morton are currently on top with 39, followed by Dunfermline on 36 with Thistle on 35.

Partick, however, have two crucial games in hand over their rivals.

The assistant manager said: “Any one of these teams are in the mix for the title. It is too close to call at this stage in the league. We just need to concentrate on every game as it comes.”

There will be a welcome return for Shaun Welsh who is back from suspension and Celtic keeper Glenn Daniels has been signed on loan to fill the space vacated by Ryan Scully who has headed off to Albion Rovers on loan,

Teams can be up to five people and entry costs £10 per person.
