Jetski ace Jason wins British Championship

DESPITE a dramatic final round at Milton Keynes, Kirkmuirhill jetski ace Jason Young was successfully crowned as British Champion, the first Scotsman to ever take this elite title.

With competitors reaching speeds of up to 70mph, Jason (22) was up against some of Europe’s best but prevailed to become overall champion.

Jason required a pair of top three finishes to guarantee overall victory but only came fifth in the first of these races after his ski began to cough and splutter.

The final contest saw Jason involved in a fierce battle with multiple former world champion Phil Pope, who stumbled after 10 laps and fell off his ski when going over the log jump.

This gave Jason a chance which he took by diving into the lead and crossing the line to the day’s biggest cheer.
