Jim had to compete in the qualifying event in Carlisle where in a strong field he won six knockout matches to progress to the Grand Prix.

In his match against the number six seed Jim played very well winning the first set 9-6. Unfortunately he narrowly lost the second set and the tie went to a third set tie-break.

With the scores 1-1 in the tie-break the match went into the final end. Jim had the last bowl of the match to draw the jack which was in the ditch. Unfortunately his bowl just toppled slowly into the ditch and the match was lost.

After the match Jim said: “I had a great chance to win but it was not to be. However, I enjoyed the experience of playing in the event against professional players.”

By playing in the World Tour event Jim picked up his first world ranking points.

Congratulations go to Jim from everyone at the club for an excellent performance.

On a somewhat lower key the ladies were involved in the Glasgow and District Knockout Championships at various venues around the Glasgow area.

In the singles Linda Fleming had a very good win against her opponent from the Allander Club and in the triples A. Lloyd, J. McMillan and P. Casey won a very exciting game against opponents from Whiteinch. Unfortunately the pairs of R. McIntyre and M. Hume and the rinks of R. Graham, Nan McEwan, A. Moss and S. Wilson narrowly lost their games. Well done everyone for their efforts on behalf of the club and good luck in the semi-finals.
