Jordan, who is head coach at Thorn Park Lawn Tennis Club in Bearsden, battled his way through a series of rounds to reach the final of the five-day tournament which was held in Dudley, near Birmingham.

However the final hurdle just proved too much for him to overcome as he lost a tight match to Barry Fulcher, currently ranked number five in the world.

The Norfolk player, the number one seed and defending champion, took the first set 6-2 and although the second was closer it went 6-4 to the Englishman for a straight sets victory.

Jordan is now turning his attention to the over-35 World Team Championships after being selected by the LTA to be part of the British team.

The event will take place in the Croatian city of Umag from May 1-6 when Great Britain will be out to improve on their performance last year when they made the semi-finals.

Jordan feels that Great Britain has an even stronger team this year and are ready to go further. He is already in training and looking forward to the challenge.
