Karate kids (and adults) collect a stash of medals

Bushido Karate Association, one of the largest associations in Scotland, held their annual Karate Championships on Kata at Parklands.

Kata is a Japanese word describing detailed patterns of movements practised either solo or in pairs.

Karate leader and association chairman John praised the turnout, saying: “We had more than 200 individual competitors and 90 teams with entrants from all our clubs in the South side of Glasgow including Crookfur, Clarkston , Eastwood and Giffnock.

“Our clubs in East Renfrewshire took home a massive haul of medals with 25 Gold, 14 Silver and 25 Bronze.”

He summed up the event, saying: “It was a great day with a mix of children and adults competing where we had mums, dads, brothers, sisters delivering a very high standard of karate.”
