Ladies tee time joy

THE ladies at East Renfrewshire took home a handful of prizes at the annual Paisley Golf Club Open Day.

Carding a score of 65, the East Renfrewshire GC team of Audrey Barclay, Dale Reid and Margaret Quinn grabbed third place in the main event.

Also, the trio of Christine Bryant, Elaine Semple and Margaret Broadbent of Eastwood GC won the Lady Captain’s Mystery Prize.

The hosts won first place with a nett score of 62, while second place went to Erskine.

Golfers from Old Ranfurly, Beith, Balmore, Milngavie, Barassie and Renfrew also took away consolation prizes.

All prizes were donated by local businesses including David Lloyd, Sir Robert McAlpine ltd; J Bruce Andrew & Co; Complete Contracts; Greenlaw Garage; Thomas Moran; JM Taylor & Co; Roth; CBRE; and Andy Carlton.

Support from Scottish Water, Morrison’s and Thomas Colquhoun Fruiterer helped to provide refreshments.

Also, clubhouse activities on the day helped raise £242.50 for Erskine Hospital.

Pamela Smith, committee member at Paisley Golf Club, said: “A big thank you must go to all our sponsors and to our club professional Andy Carlton who supplied the prizes many of which were official Gleneagles Ryder Cup merchandising.

“We are confident that no lady left our 2014 Open Day empty handed and everyone felt like a winner.”
