Grammar pupils recorded four wins and three runners-up finishes at the Ravenscraig Sports Facility in Motherwell, testament to the quality coaching they’d received from MBE John.

“Winning all those medals was a great achievement for the pupils,” said Lanark Grammar pupil support teacher Fergie Robson.

Fergie said that the under-14 boys doubles final had been particularly memorable to watch as Lanark Grammar pupils Danny Robson and Calum Strang beat a pair one year older than them.

Danny also won the under-13 boys singles, with Calum finishing as the runner-up.

Among other competing Lanark Grammar kids, Ben Strang was runner-up in the under-15 boys singles, Ben and Owen Robson won the under-16 boys doubles, twins Lauren and Sarah Kennedy won the under-16 girls doubles and the unrelated Eilidh Millar and Sophie Millar were runners-up in the under-19 girls doubles.
