Lanark Grammar pupils win Taekwon-do medals for Scotland

THERE was nothing Tae it recently for medal winning Lanark Grammar pupils Lyle Walker (12), Gordon Simpson (16) and Lyle's 14-year-old brother Lewis Walker!

For the boys won four gold, three gold and one silver medal respectively when representing Scotland at the three-day Goodwill International Taekwon-do Shield in Meadowbank.

This helped Scotland to a second place overall finish at an event featuring opposition from England, Wales, Ireland, Hong Kong, America, North Korea and South Korea, which was organised by the boys' Scotia Taekwon-do coach David Condie.

"I was thrilled that Scotland got second place," David said.

"We have been training hard since last year and our efforts have been so terrific that the BBC is doing a documentary on us.

"I was very impressed by the performances of all three Lanark Grammar boys.

"Gordon has been with us for three years, while Lyle and Lewis are eight-year members.

"We drew with England in our final fight, so Lyle fought again and won it for us."
