Lanark MMA star Joanne Calderwood wins first fight

LANARK mixed martial arts fighter Joanne Calderwood has won her debut bout at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow.

Her bout with France’s Noellie Molina at the On Top 4 event was the first professional all-female fight held in Scotland and it was a winning start for Joanne, who won the fight after a ground-and-pound attack in the first round.

It is a new direction for the 26-year-old cage fighter, who gave up her job as a nursing support worker to pursue her dream of being a world champion MMA fighter.
