Lanark Primary trio enjoy badminton success

IN an unprecedented level of success for Lanark Primary School, its pupils have won gold in two events at the Lanarkshire Primary Schools Badminton Championships.

Jordan Fraser and Danny Robson (who was also runner-up in the P7 boys’ singles) triumphed in the boys doubles with a thrilling 23-21 final victory over Robert Owen Memorial Primary pair Finlay Steer and Calum Strang.

And fellow Lanark Primary pupil Jessica Robson (P5) beat older girls to triumph in the P6 girls singles.

“We are extremely chuffed with the children’s achievements because they worked very hard for this,” said Lanark Primary principal teacher Hazel Orr.

“This was one of the best years we’ve ever had at these championships. To get these gold medals was fantastic.

“We are very proud of the pupils. They are great ambassadors for the school and fine examples of this school’s rich ethos of outdoor learning.”
