Lanark secretary turns attention to Irvine Meadow

WITH the current arctic conditions leading to the postponement of Scottish junior football matches left, right and centre, Lanark United secretary Tam Anderson will instead turn his attentions to what's happening at Hibs' Easter Road Stadium this Saturday.

For the Edinburgh outfit, currently sitting third in the SPL, will take on Lanark's West Premier Superleague junior rivals Irvine Meadow in the fourth round of the Active Nation Scottish Cup.

"It is a great day out and a great pay day for Irvine," said Tam, the Scottish Junior FA President.

"I am friendly with their secretary Ian McQueen, so I hope they acquit themselves well.

"Obviously, Hibs will win. I can't see there being any other result.

"But it is a great incentive for the Irvine lads to put on a show.

"I think their forward Brian McGinty, an ex-Rangers and St Mirren player, could represent their best chance of getting a goal."
