Lanark swimmer Jack McComish wins another award

WITH a world bronze medal already under his belt at the tender age of 17, Lanark Swimming Club ace Jack McComish was the deserving Junior category winner at the South Lanarkshire Disability Sports Awards in Hamilton.

“The award was well deserved and hopefully Jack’s excellent form will continue in the new season.”

In what has been a remarkable run of form since late 2011, Jack claimed a 1500m bronze medal at the World Deaf Swimming Championships held a year ago.

He then won a staggering seven gold medals in the 50m freestyle, 100m butterfly, breaststroke, freestyle and medley, 200m medley and 400m freestyle at December’s Great Britain DSE Senior Open Championships in Sheffield.

In addition, Jack was in the Scottish relay team which took gold, broke six UK records at the championships and received the Junior Performer of the Championships award.
