Lanark swimmers set to take part in charity swimathon

Lanark Swimming Pool in the Lifestyles Centre will soon be a venue for the nationwide Swimathon Weekend which last year attracted 45 participants to Lanark – the third most of any Scottish venue.

Lanark Lifestyles swimming officer Lindsey Leeper (25) is confident that at least as many people will again swim lengths in Lanark from April 27 to 29 to raise money for charity at the world’s biggest fundraising swim hitting 645 pools across the UK.

“You don’t need to be superfit to do this,” Lindsey said.

“My individual challenge is trying to do a 2.5km swim in one and a half hours, but there is no required distance or time limit for swimmers who enter. You just need to do a minimum of one mile and can keep swimming for as long as you want.
