Lanark Triathlon Club make a big splash at Ayr Duathlon

Newly formed Lanark Triathlon Club had a strong showing of 10 members competing in the Ayr Duathlon at the Auchencruive Estate – the first mass outing since the club’s formation this year.

The club finished top of the table after the 5km run/20km cycle/5km run course, in a time of 1 hour 17.29 minutes and in fourth place overall was Stuart MacGregor.

Team-mates Darren Stewart and Derek Burnside also had top 10 placings, with Tony Higgins and Scott Marriott finishing 11th and 12th respectively.

Within the age categories, Lanark also had four podium places, with George Burns winning the Super Veterans, (and also notably having completed a marathon in 3 hours 10 minutes the previous weekend), Donald McCaffer coming second in the vintage, Stuart MacGregor taking third in the veterans and Darren Stewart finishing third in the senior category.
