Lanark YMCA snooker team wins Lanarkshire League

MANCHESTER City’s astonishing last-gasp victory against QPR which sealed their first English top flight title since 1968 wasn’t this month’s only nailbiting sporting finale!

Just ask the players of Lanark YMCA snooker team, who sealed glory in the 22-match Lanarkshire Snooker League in the very last week of the campaign.

“It was a very close league this season,” said Lanark YMCA captain David Sneddon.

“We knew we needed to win two frames in our final match of the season at Cambusnethan Miners to guarantee finishing top of the league and we surpassed that by winning 4-2.

“It was just as well, because our closest rivals – Bar 147 Team B from Hamilton – won their last game 6-0. So it was great that we stepped up to the plate.”
