Lanimer Trail Races returned to original Lanark Racecourse venue

AFTER being the venue for the first-ever Scottish Cross-Country Championships on Lanimer Day, 1889, Lanark Racecourse was the nostalgic choice for the Lanimer Trail Races last Tuesday evening.

Event co-organiser Millar Stoddart, the Lanimer chairman, revealed that this year’s races were not staged in the traditional wooded area at the Racecourse due to fears that damp underfoot conditions could be dangerous.

“There was a definite risk of people slipping there,” Millar said.
