Lesmahagow golfer Mike Mayo tees off with Simon Dyson

A DREAM came true for Lesmahagow blind golf ace Mike Mayo recently when he got the chance to play a round with Simon Dyson, one of Europe’s leading professionals.

Thanks to the charity Give Them a Sporting Chance, Mike teed it up with the six-time European Tour winner at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Cheshire.

“It is a day I will never forget,” Mike said.

“Even although I smashed my drive up the first hole, Simon was still 100 yards past me!

“Despite the fact that a change in Simon’s schedule meant that he was due to play a tournament in France, he didn’t cancel our round.

“Instead he turned up, knowing that afterwards he would have to go straight from the golf club to the airport. “That proves what a kind and sincere person Simon is. The way he conducts himself is a credit to golf throughout the world.”
