Lesmahagow manager Sandy Robertson resigns

LONG-serving Lesmahagow Juniors manager Sandy Robertson resigned from the job just one hour after Saturday's 1-0 Central Division 1 loss at Thorniewood.

Sandy (43) decided to call time on his seven and a half-year 'Gow reign, after a defeat which leaves 'Gow second bottom and in the relegation zone, two points from safety with seven league games remaining.

He told Gazette Sport on Monday: "I was getting a bit stale at Lesmahagow Juniors.

"Before the Thorniewood game, for the first time in my life I couldn't be bothered going to the football.

"Then the result we needed never came on Saturday, so I thought it was time to step aside.

"I'm a 'Gow supporter who also had two spells at the club as a player, and I really want to see them doing well."

Sandy revealed that his assistant Robert Irving has agreed to take over as 'Gow manager until the end of the season.
