THE training regime of Erin Wallace is just one reason the 13-year-old is considered one of Britain’s top prospects in triathlon.

The youngster trains more than 15 hours per week in swimming, cycling and running.

The Eastwood High pupil rises three times a week as early as 5.30am for pool work with Ren 96, then trains after school with Giffnock North in running, strength and conditioning.

To top it off, the young athlete cycles to and from each practice to complete her gruelling training schedule.

As well as winning the British triathlon (age 11-12) in 2012, some of her many honours include an indoor and outdoor 800m win in the Scottish championships, and the Renfrewshire schools 100m and 200m breast stroke.

Last year she even won an East Renfrewshire’s convenor award for her commitment to Sports Leadership and Volunteering.

This year, while the girl from Newton Mearns will be competing in each individual discipline, all roads lead to the under 15 British triathlon championship in September.

She told ExtraSport: “The training at Giffnock North and Ren 96 has helped so much, I feel my fitness is improving all the time. 
“I know the British championships at this age group is a big step but that is what I am working hard towards”.
