Subaru Impreza star Linzi (20), of Carlindean Farm, was first female and she also beat over 30 men when finishing 29th overall at Saturday’s Grampian Stages Rally in Aberdeen.

Her proud dad Walter said: “Linzi did very well.

“We would have been happy with an overall finish in the 30s so she exceeded expectations.

“Linzi is getting quicker and gaining confidence all the time.

“There was a time when she was maybe a bit hesitant when taking instructions from navigator Tom Hynd but not any more.

“There were some slippy bits during the 40-odd miles but Linzi coped fine.

“The Subaru is a big car to handle but Linzi has proved she is well capable of driving it and that she can mix it with the men.”

Simply finishing the one remaining event in this year’s ARR Craib Scottish Rally Championship series – the Galloway Hills Rally in Castle Douglas on September 10 – will cement Linzi’s position as top woman.

“It would be great if Linzi could finish in the 20s again,” Walter said. “I think the wine will be out in celebration and I’ll be getting badgered about getting Linzi in next year’s championship.”

Linzi won her first Scottish women’s forest title in 2014 before taking time off in 2015.
