Lions’ new generation taste glory at Championships

ON Saturday, June 16, a new generation of Tryst Lions wrestlers earned glory at the British Novice Championship, held at the Thornaby Pavilion, Stockton.

A group of young wrestlers competed for the Lions and a variety of medals were racked up by the team with Ciaran Keelan bringing home silver, Ruban Gray and Shaun McDonald winning bronze, while Ewan McCormack and Joe McCluskey were placed fourth. Cameron McKay also claimed silver in the senior category.

Coaches David Connelly and Steven McKeown accompanied the squad with Steven joyfully announcing: “I am extremely proud of them all.”

The Lions also recently competed at the English Junior Championships in Bolton where Taylor McCann and Ross Connelly triumphed to win gold. Lee McKeown took a fourth place.
