‘Lok lose to ‘Knock

NEW Pollok head coach Steven Docherty kept faith with the starting eleven who had taken care of Luncarty.

The home side had the first chance of the game in the sixth minute when Iain Diack volleyed well wide.

Two minutes later Cumnock took the lead when Stephen Maguire’s 25-yard shot deflected wrongfooted Johnny Murdoch in the Pollok goal.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 25th minute when Gary McMenamin floated in a free kick and Keiran Woods head home.

Cumnock started after the interval on the front foot, and only a brave dive by Murdoch prevented them further extending their lead.

Chris McKnight tried his luck for Cumnock with a free kick, but his dipping effort went over the bar.

The ‘Lok’s attempts to regain parity were severely hampered in the 74th minute when Richie Barr was sent to the pavilion for use of foul and abusive language.

Sinclair’s free kick was gathered by Semple, but the Cumnock players took umbrage to Chris McGowan’s attempted follow-up, and a stramash ensued. McInnes was ordered off while McGowan received a caution.

Willie Howie was booked for a second time in the 85th minute for simulation.

Cumnock played out the remainder of the game for a well deserved three points.
