Matthew Stewart is Biggar Rugby Club’s P7 Player of the Year

LANARK lad Matthew Stewart has been named as Biggar Rugby Club’s Primary 7 Player of the Year.

Matthew (12), of Willow Place, also picked up the John Hair Memorial Trophy for commitment and endeavour in Mini rugby.

His mum Jennifer said: “Matthew is really quick on his feet and a very good try scorer.

“He is like lightning when he’s running with the ball and always seems to find an opening to jink through.

“He’s been one of the main try scorers for Biggar Minis and works hard on his rugby week in and week out.”

Matthew, who has been playing at Biggar Rugby Club since he was in Primary 4, has progressed to S1 level with his twin brother Lewis. His ultimate ambition is to play for Scotland.
