Group B was won by Alan Maxwell. John Tallent came second followed by Willie Scott in third. Ian Mackay was fouorth and Bill Munro came fifth.

Davie Hutchison never dropped a frame in Group C and was clear winner followed by Willie Connor, Gordon Smith, then in fourth came Stewart Millar and finally Ross Higgins.

In the quarter-finals Andy Jackson beat Willie Scott 2-1 in a black ball game. The final black was one even Mark Boyle would have been proud of. Alan Maxwell beat Colin Allen 2-0 and Davie Hutchison inflicted the same result over Willie Connor and it finished 2-0. In the last quarter-final the ever-improving Gordon Smith pushed John Tallent all the way. John later admitted he carried a little luck during his 2-1 win.

In the semi-finals Alan Maxwell continued his fine run of form and defeated Andy Jackson 2-0. The other semi was a different story. At 1-1 both players had chances to win. It looked all over as Davie Hutchison had a fine cut black six inches from the bag. Davie Undercut it and after a few safety shots John Tallent potted a cracking black to progress to the final.

The final was a bit one sided and before John Tallent knew it he was 2-0 down to Alan Maxwell. The next two frames were shared and it finished 3-1 to Maxi!!

For his efforts Maxi picked up the first prize of £110. As runner-up John picked up £55 and the two losing semi-finalists, Davie Hutchison and Andy Jackson, walked away with £27.50. The new conference event format worked well and everyone seemed to enjoy playing in it. A special thanks goes to Carin, Billy and Maxi for agreeing to the fixed table fee which is great value for the money.
