Mengisteab wins Carluke 10K Road Race

THE new-look course at Sunday’s Carluke 10k Road Race presented no problems for Eritrean race winner Tew Mengisteab of Shettleston Harriers.

Mengisteab romped home in 29 minutes 36 seconds to be 180m ahead of the second-placed athlete at the Carluke Development Trust-backed event, on a day which also had the 5k Fun Walk and Run.

“Tew got off to a flying start and just kept going,” said Trust chairman Tom Sneddon.

“It was as if the steep uphill inclines on the new-look course didn’t exist.”
