Mike Mayo wins his fourth British Blind Golf Masters

IT would be fair to say that Mike Mayo's performance at the recent four-day Lawrence Levy British Blind Golf Masters was truly tee-rrific!

For, in winning the event for a record breaking fourth time (after previous triumphs in 2003, 2005 and 2007), Mike (47), of Milton Park Square, Lesmahagow, triumphed by a mammoth 18 strokes.

"It is absolutely superb to have won it again," Mike told Gazette Sport.

"The British Blind Masters is the only four-round blind competition in the world.

"My driving, with a new Wilson Staff ShockWave club, was great.

"The ball was going off the clubface like a rocket, straight and long.

"And my putting, with a Yes Golf Victoria C-Groove putter, was awesome.

"My putting was so hot I thought I would have to start putting with a pair of welders gloves on!"

Mike hopes his latest victory will interest some local businesses to help him with sponsorship, so he can play the blind golf circuit next year and do everyone in South Lanarkshire proud.
