Milton Stars win U17 Glasgow City Cup

MILTON Stars kicked off their 2010/11 pre-season by winning the prestigious U17 Glasgow City Cup International Youth Tournament.

It featured a number of top teams including former Scottish cup

winners Tynecastle and this year's beaten finalists Bellfield.

However, it was Milton, which boasts players from throughout Clydesdale, who got their hands on the trophy by beating Jimmy Johnstone Memorial, from Cumbernauld, 2-1 in a game dominated by the Stars.

It was described as a team effort by coach Alan Weir, who takes the team with manager Danny Meikle and coach Eric Watson.

He said: "It's a great achievement for the boys as there was some real quality opposition.

"It's another great victory and they thoroughly deserved it."
