n Law Old People’s Welfare Group held a jumble sale in the Welfare Hall. It raised £38 for club funds.

n A home lovers’ exhibition was due to take place at the YMCA Hall in Lanark from October 6 to 13. It was expected that the exhibition was going to attract a large number of people.

n Braidwood man James Craig was elected president of the Scottish Fruitgrowers Research Association at its recent AGM. He succeeded Biggar man William Rae.

n Carluke Rovers were defeated 3-2 in an away match at Larkhall Thistle.
