n Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes entertained Northern Irish councillor Charles McCulloch. After hearing the band, Mr McCulloch congratulated the band on their high standard.

n First Carluke Life Boys parents night was held in the Welfare Hall with almost 100 parents and friends present. John Cumming of Hearts was on hand to present the prizes.

n A labourer from Law appeared at Lanark Sheriff Court charged with assault. He made no plea and was detained in custody.

n The Lanarkshire Group of Young Unionists gathered at the Royal Oak Hotel for a half day conference. Over 150 people attended.

n The self-service grocery department of Law Co-operative Society was broken into in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Nothing was reported stolen as the intruders were believed to have been disturbed by police.

n After the AGM of Douglas Water Thistle FC it was agreed to disband. The club closed after more than 60 years due to the lack of support.

n At Lanark JP Court a man of no fixed residence pleaded guilty to begging at the local British Linen Bank. He was fined 10 shillings.

n Miss Jeanie McCulloch was chosen as the 1912 Lanimer Queen by an overwhelming majority of her classmates.

n A Lesmahagow woman appeared at Lanark Sheriff Court charged with perjury. She pleaded guilty and was fined £1 with the alternative of seven days imprisonment.

n News was received that Lord Lamington’s camp at Alar Karsland had been pillaged by brigands. Lord Lamington had been in Persia since mid-January.

n New Lanark Amateur Dramatic Association had been busy preparing for its latest production My Sweetheart. The piece was described as a pretty little comedy of American origin.

n In Carluke an address was to be given in the town hall on Friday evening onHome Rule for Ireland. Speaker Mr O’Mahoney was described as a Protestant landowner.

n Carluke Milton Rovers faced Larkhall United in the semi-final of the Lanarkshire Junior Cup, losing 2-0.
