Down Memory Lane in Clydesdale

Discover the stories that made the Gazette headlines, all those years ago.

TIMELY REMINDER?: The Gazette has been running numerous stories in recent weeks about passengers disappointed with the bus service through Biggar, following problems with the former operator of the service from Dumfries to Edinburgh and then changes in the timetable when a new operator took over. Even this week there is another review of the service being carried out, in the hope that passengers will be able to get to school and to work on time. We wonder if this bus, pictured back in 1928, parked beside the fountain which used to grace Biggar High Street, was more reliable? The road itself looks a lot more challenging than the smooth tarmac of the 21st century!
