Only eight points behind leaders

AFTER watching his side wrap up another win against a high-flying team, John Queen drew comparisons with the most successful season in United’s recent history.

Cumbernauld battled both third placed Ardrossan and the driving rain at Winton Park on Saturday, and left with a 1-0 win and all three points.

That lifts the Guy’s Meadow side to tenth in the table, but incredibly, they’re only eight points behind league leaders Glenafton, with a game in hand.

It marks an unbelievable turn around in fortunes for a team that had only picked up three points by the middle of November.

Kilsyth Rangers’ fixture at East Kilbride Thistle’s notoriously vulnerable Showpark was called off on Friday.

A hastily arranged friendly against Clydebank ended 6-2 in favour of The Bankies.

This Saturday Rangers will play host to Lanark United in a league match, kick-off 2pm.
