Jewel of the mile for Virtual Law AAC athletes as they excel

Law and District AAC members were again in virtual race action at the Scottish Athletics mile time trial.

Law ‘A’ team completed four miles in 20:25, with Darran Muir (4:53) and Ross Hill (4:58) both getting under five minutes and Oscar Logan (5:10) and James McClafferty (5:24) also doing well.

Under-15 Logan Whitton, of Law, ran a superb 5:31, while fellow under-15 Craig Cherrie almost pipped him.

Ryan Kellock enjoyed the challenge so much he took part on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and had a fourth attempt on Monday which resulted in a fantastic best time of 5:41.

Matthew Gillon (5:37) and Ben Fountain (5:56) both came in under six minutes and Cameron Fry had a great run for 6:02. It was also good to have Daniel Munday taking part again after illness.

Emily McNicol was Law’s leading female in 5:42, followed by Fiona Currie in 6:15, Reagan Binnie – running with a knock – completed her mile in 6:18 and Margaret Newell was home in 7:14.

Law head coach Pat Kelly must be making the most of lockdown to exercise as he completed the mile in 5:55.

There was a great turnout from all squads with sprinter Cameron Martin showing good endurance to complete a mile in 5:56 with fellow sprint squad members Rosie Watson, Robbie Nugent, Susannah Kay, Euan Blackwood, Owen Murphy, Jade Gray and sprint coach James Scullion also there.

Throws squad member Ross Ferguson also had a great mile run.

Among the U13 squads Joscelyn Kennedy was fastest in 6:25 followed by Jessica Inglis (6:51), Daniel Simpson (7:01), Callum Woods (7:10), Callum Lowdon (7:15), Alayna McCann (7:22), Alex Orr (7:40), Rachel Stevenson (8:14), Lindsay Wishart (8:20) Lola Quadrelli (8:26). In the U15s Law had Amanda Quinn and Elizabeth joining in.

There was great family support with all the Gillons taking part, Jen Beattie again joining Rich and Cora. In the 1200m competition there were great runs from Ryan Muir, Ryan Kennedy, Cora Beattie, Callum Blackwood, Johann Gillon, Ryan Allan and Freya Whitton.
