Primary kids reach football fever pitch

YOUNGSTERS from across East Ren had a ball at the Tesco Bank Football Challenge.

Nearly 500 primary two and three pupils took part over three days — learning all about the benefits of an active lifestyle.

The six to eight-year-olds travelled from Braidbar, Calderwood Lodge, Thornliebank, St Thomas’s, Carolside, Busby, Eaglesham, Uplawmoor, Kirkhill, Giffnock and Neilston primaries to sessions at Cowan Park and Giffnock.

Councillor Mary Montague commented: “I was delighted to see how much the children were enjoying it. It’s vital that we encourage boys and girls to be active and take up sport at an early age.”
