Rotarians set for ambitious golf fundraiser

Kilsyth Rotary Club members hope to raise up to £2,500 for local and international charities from their first ever Charity Golf Competition at Kilsyth Lennox Golf Club on Friday.

Some 80 players are taking part in the Stableford contest,in an event said to be well supported by members, their friends, and local businesses.

Organiser David Stewart said: “As this is the inaugural Kilsyth Rotary Charity Golf Competition we’re obviously hoping the day will be a success.

“The support we’ve had has been very encouraging, and it could well become an annual fundraising fixture.

“We’re obviously grateful to the many people who have lent their support, particularly as this is the first such event we’ve staged.”

The competition format means teams of four (whose entry fee is a donation) battle it out for the winners’ honours.

Charities which stand to benefit include local causes, Eradicate Polio, and the charity funds of Rotary International.

The contest will run over around four hours on Friday, with club president Hartley Crawford teeing off.
