West Division 1 match at the Bearyards on Saturday.

The Bishopbriggs side went into the match looking to make it five league wins in a row, a sequence which included a 22-10 success at Cambuslang in the first match between the sides in October.

Glen’s began looking to shake off any lingering festive hangovers and went straight into the attack in their first match of the new year.

The game took the form of the club’s first encounter of the season where Cambuslang used their forwards in pick and drive tactics and Glen’s using their speedy backs.

It was the home side who enjoyed the best of the first half as they ran in three tries, two of which were converted.

Sean Kirk opened the scoring for the home side, crossing the whitewash following a determined run down the wing.

Not long afterwards Alistair McConnell made a break from his own 22 line and created an opportunity for Jono Murrell to touch down near the posts.

Another try came for Glen’s came when Daniel Lowe charged over the Cambuslang line and it looked as if the game was in the bag as the home side led 19-0 with five minutes to play until half-time.

But Cambuslang had other ideas and a driving maul secured them a try making the half time score of 19-5.

And after the break Cambuslang came right back into the game and a further two tries came from their rampant pack cut the home side’s lead to just four points.

However Glen’s had the final say as Scott Thomson consolidated the win with a further two penalties.

The victory left Glen’s fourth in the table ahead of Saturday’s derby with sixth-placed Lenzie.
