This annual event, sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland, is an opportunity for the rugby club to involve all sections of the club – mini, youth and senior – as a prelude to the start of the new season.

The club took the opportunity of the Rugby Force Day to organise registration of players with the mini section taking part in a training session, ably assisted by Callum Scotland, Alan Love and Ben Letham.

The turnout of youth players was less than expected but it is hoped that with the end of the school holidays, more players will return to Auchenkilns for the start of the new season.

The seniors, meanwhile, took part in a training game against Strathaven Rugby Club who play in the West League Division 3.

As a Division 2 Club, Cumbernauld quickly asserted authority and proved too strong for their lower league opponents.

However the game was played in an excellent spirit and with Cumbernauld’s forwards to the fore, the Badgers crossed the visitors’ line on 10 occasions to provide the players with some much-needed match-time experience.
