Salo Tutaia makes Biggar Rugby Club debut

GIANT Samoan Salo Tutaia (25) made his Biggar Rugby Club debut in Saturday's thumping 83-7 home friendly victory over his former side Ardrossan.

And Biggar head coach Anthony Posa was delighted with how the 6ft 10'' lock — a former trialist for the Samoan national team — showed up in the first pre-season runout against the Premier 3 outfit.

"Salo is built like a tank and is a very good player," Posa said.

"He had only just arrived in the country and so felt a bit jetlagged on Saturday.

"He showed some really nice touches and there were a lot of positive signs for a guy who had just come off a plane.

"I was really happy that a lot of young kids got a workout against Ardrossan, because there is no substitute for playing matches.

"Second row Josh Harvey and winger Ruaridh MacLutchie deserve a special mention for the way they played."

Posa has also signed former Biggar favourite Craig Parker, who returns to Hartreemill after two years away playing firstly for Gala and then London outfit Havant.
