Sam Muir makes final Biggar Rugby Club appearance

THERE was a fantastic send-off from the crowd for Biggar Rugby Club scrum half and captain Sam Muir, as he was substituted with just a few minutes remaining of Saturday's 24-13 home Premier 2 victory over Kirkcaldy.

Muir (30), who is returning home to New Zealand with his wife Jody after spending three seasons in the Biggar 1st XV, marked his final Hartreemill appearance with a try which helped keep the club in fourth spot, just one point behind third placed Gala.

Biggar head coach Anthony Posa said: "I took Sam off with a couple of minutes to go so the crowd could say 'thank you'.

"He has done well, so the round of applause was thoroughly deserved.

"Sam going home is a big loss to the club and he will be sorely missed. He was that good that I don't think he can be replaced.

"Sam is not only a top player, but also a top guy on and off the field."
