Seven up no cause for Clyde complacency

The Broadwood boss watched his side score for fun against The Shire as the Cumbernauld side racked up a 7-1 victory.

That leaves them sitting in fifth place, only two points behind Elgin.

Duffy said: “I was delighted for the players, they played very well going forward and it was just one of those days where we were able to convert most of our chances.

“You can have other days where things just don’t work out for you in front of goal. To score seven was the icing on the cake - games like that don’t happen very often but, when they do, they give everyone a lift.”

He continued: “A win like this gives everyone a boost and it’s obviously nice to be sitting in a decent league position but our ambition for the season is the same as it was on day one - we’re looking to develop and improve gradually as a team.

“That’s the first quarter of the season gone now and we’ve done pretty well, but there’s still plenty for us to work on.

“When we have everyone fit things can go quite smoothly as we can name an unchanged team and the players each know their role.

“It’s when we get injuries and have to start changing things that your rhythm can get disrupted.”

Saturday sees Clyde travel to Montrose for their Scottish Cup second round tie.

Duffy added: “It’s a really tough match but your objective has to be to go through to the third round because that’s where all the big guns come in.

“We won one-nil against them earlier in the season and there wasn’t much in it.

“But Montrose will be thinking the same thing as us, they’ll be telling their players the same as we are.”
