Seven without a win

CLYDE boss Stuart Millar says he's at odds to explain why his team's performances aren't picking up results, but takes perspective from what's happening elsewhere in the SFL.

The Bully Wee suffered their fifth defeat of the season away to Arbroath last Saturday when Gavin Swankie netted the winner for the hosts two minutes from time.

However, as the administrators descend on Dens Park, Millar knows Clyde could have far greater problems to deal with.

He said: "It puts into light what you're facing when you see Dundee possibly going out of the game, something Clyde could have faced before. But, because of good housekeeping, it's good to know we will still have a club.

"On Saturday the team played well, we were in control, going one up, but once again every slight mistake we're getting punished for and we're just not getting the breaks.

"It's been a poor start to the season, there's no hiding that fact. I knew the circumstances of the job when I took it and I knew it would be a difficult time, but I still thought we would have a lot more points on the board by now. Seven games without a win is not acceptable."

Having been unable to consistently field his preferred 11, Millar feels an element of stability has been missing so far.

"We've suffered quite a bit because of injuries," he explained. "Marc McCusker being out is a real blow and he'll be a few more weeks yet. Willie Sawyers was the top scorer last year but he hasn't really got going yet because of injury and he's still to see a surgeon."

Berwick Rangers visit Broadwood on Saturday for a Scottish Cup tie, ahead of which more injury worries have surfaced for Clyde.

Miller continued: "It's still too early in the week to tell who we will have to choose from but we're in a situation where Ross McMillan picked up an injury against Arbroath and Alan Lithgow had to get stitches, so we're waiting to see how they'll be. We're down to the very bare bones of the squad so we don't have our problems to seek."

Miller doesn't think his team are far off where they need to be and is convinced it'll only take one good result to turn their season around.

He added: "I still believe if we continue to do what we're doing then we can be successful. I'll keep working hard and hope we get that wee bit of luck that I think we deserve that will turn things around.

"Your own confidence does take a dunt when things aren't going well and the players' confidence is low at the moment, but, as I say, all it will take is one good result and it'll give everyone a boost and we can go on from there."
