Silver for Valencia in San Diego
Lenzie youngster Valencia Wright added to her athletics medal collection by striking silver - in San Diego.
As part of a family holiday the 11-year-old, who runs for VP City of Glasgow, travelled to San Diego for the California State Games and duly won a silver medal in the 11-12 years girls’ 3000 metres.
Proud mum Caroline said: “This was her first attempt at this distance and even more gruelling because of extremely hot weather, something she is not used to running in at Scottish events.”
Former Millersneuk Primary pupil Valencia, who starts at Lenzie Academy next month, won West District 1500m gold in June.
